The must-attend events for car fans in the USA

With pandemic restrictions dying down in America, car enthusiasts have one thing on their minds: automotive events. Car aficionados love nothing more than getting together and sharing their interest by attending events, keeping up to date on what’s going on in the car industry and, a lot of the time, being able to see world-class cars that they wouldn’t see elsewhere. We’re really excited about our new California-based consultancy and have been enthused by researching the top events to attend when we visit. Many events are on the horizon over the next few months, and it would be selfish of us to keep all this information to ourselves! So, in this month’s blog, we’ll explore a selection of the must-attend events coming up in and around California.

Fresh from a successful Monterey Car Week, famed for its renowned festivities and cars on display, with an impressive schedule that included the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, and The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the Golden State saw hundreds of cars and thousands of people descend for an automotive-filled week and celebrations galore. A good start to the American journey for us at Marc Brunel Recruitment!

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, being the popular automotive event grounds that it is, is also hosting the Velocity Invitational from October 14 to October 16, 2022. Visitors will experience phenomenal cars like the Porsche 917, Ford GT, and the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR take on the circuit and the famed Corkscrew elevation change, as well as enjoy food, drinks and the rest of the cars throughout the paddock during the event. Tickets are still available, with various packages on hand to suit everyone. The opportunity to watch these exceptional cars race around the track, get autographs from legendary drivers, and lounge in the Event Plaza makes this event one not to be missed.

If you’re looking for something inside, with air-conditioning (!), an interesting exhibition that’s been running throughout August, and will continue through to the end of September, is the Petersen Automotive Museum’s ‘Hypercars: the Allure of the Extreme’. The museum alone is a must-attend location, featuring exhibitions of extremely notable cars all year round but, for the hypercar exhibit, visitors are in the presence of particularly special hypercars that will be on display in the Bruce Meyer Family Gallery, including the remarkable 2017 Lamborghini Centenario. Whether you’re in the area or not, the Petersen Automotive Museum is a must for any car enthusiast’s bucket list.

However, it’s not only the larger events that we as car fanatics love to attend. We’re excited to pop down to various smaller events going on around California, such as Cars & Coffee LA, which is held on the last Sunday of every month at the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round car park, where Walt Disney got his inspiration for Disneyland. It’s a community-based, charming car park meet, and the turnout always seems to impress, making it an interesting event to attend to see a wide range of local cars. The Malibu Cars and Coffee, held in the mornings of the second and fourth Sundays of every month, also draws out local car enthusiasts that love connecting with like-minded people, making it another great event to attend.

For those looking to do some shopping, automotive swap meets are becoming increasingly popular, with a plethora of them to look forward to around California in the months to come. What’s not to like; they have the qualities of a car show with the addition of car parts, new and old, being sold, and even the chance to get involved and sell your own parts or cars! The largest of them all is the Long Beach Hi-Po (high performance) Swap Meet at Veterans Memorial Stadium, which occurs monthly and was founded back in 1983. Renowned for its large scale, with thousands of visitors and a variety of interesting cars, the next two are on October 9 and November 13, 2022. This swap meet is a must-attend event in Long Beach.

Whether you enjoy the bigger, more formal meets, or prefer a casual vibe, these are some of the must-attend automotive shows coming up in and around California. Being the all-things-automotive enthusiasts we are, here at Marc Brunel Recruitment, attending top events like these will be first on our to-do list as we explore the area following our expansion to California. We’re already excited to get acquainted with the myriad of special cars we’ll see from around the States. If you’re based in the USA and currently looking for a career change and want to break into the automotive industry, or looking to change positions or even relocate across the pond, get in touch with us at info@marcbrunel.com today, or click on our website’s Candidates section for all our open vacancies.
